North Carolina A&T's cheer squad was crowned 2024 NCA College National Champions in the Intermediate Small Coed Division l group.
”Standing on business in the 336. Aggie Pride, yea we’re all in the mix,” the school said on social media.
Jackson State and Tennesee State also earned high scores in the division, placing 5th and 11th, respectively.
Xavier University of Louisiana took home the title of National Cheerleaders Association champion in the major co-ed NAIA class. The win marked their second national championship in its five seasons as a varsity program. XULA earned its first NAIA title in 2022 led by head coach Glenn Caston.
The Morgan State Cheer Bears came close to clinching a title, earning second place in the All-Girl Intermediate Division with a score of 86.10.
“Since the Cheer Bears finished second after Day 1, ultimately, we knew we were within reach of that first-place position,” Morgan State Cheer head coach Theresa Coleman-Gibson said, according to HBCU Gameday.
Though they ultimately placed second, Coleman-Gibson said she was proud of the team's accomplishment.
“Coach Quis and I are both so pleased with how the ladies performed while they were here,” Gibson said. “The majority of the team are rookie Cheer Bears, and coupled with our returners, they gave us the best that could be given at this year’s NCA College Nationals.”
