Incarcerated R&B singer R. Kelly has reportedly made friends with the man accused of opening fire on a Brooklyn subway car last month, wounding 10 and injuring nearly two dozen others.

According to New York Daily News, Kelly and Frank R. James have been spotted sitting together and eating together at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park as they both await trials for their cases.

Kelly was convicted of federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges last year and is currently awaiting sentencing before his state trial in Illinois begins later this year.

James, 62, pleaded not guilty to terrorism and gun charges last week, according to multiple news outlets.

"Both do get along," one source told New York Daily News. "They actually sit together and eat together," the source added.

"They talk about TV shows. They go out to rec together. They're buds," another source confirmed.

Of the reported newfound friendship, one of Kelly's lawyers, Jennifer Bonjean, said "Mr. Kelly is not in control of who he is housed with. A friend is someone you voluntarily hang out with."

Both men are being housed in the same unit, while Kelly has his own room, James is reportedly sharing with a bunkmate.

Both men are facing potential life sentences in prison.
