'Magnum P.I.' Star Roger E. Mosley Dead At 83

Television and film star Roger E. Mosley has died, People reports. He was 83.

Mosley's family shared the news of his death on Sunday (August 7) just days after a "major car accident."

"Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your 'coach Mosley' your "TC" from Magnum P.I., passed away at 1:17 a.m.," wrote Mosley's daughter, Ch-a Mosley, on Facebook. "He was surrounded by family as he transcended peacefully."

Ch-a confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that her father died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles due to injuries from a car accident that left him "paralyzed from the shoulders down" days prior.

Born on December 18, 1938, Roger is best known for his role as pilot Theodore "T.C." Calvin on the original "Magnum P.I."

During the original show's eight-year run from 1980 to 1988, Roger appeared in 158 out of 162 episodes per TVLine.

The actor also holds television credits from his roles in "Love Boat," "Night Gallery," "Sanford and Son," "Kung Fu," "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper," "Rude Awakening," and more.

His film credits include several Blaxploitation movies, McQ, The Greatest, Semi-Tough, Heart Condition, and Pentathlon.

Stephen Hill, who currently stars as T.C. Calvin in "Magnum P.I.'s" reboot series, paid tribute to the original star with an Instagram post on Sunday.

"Rest In Power to the King, Father, Husband, Friend, Trailblazer, Black Power-Man, Coach, Gentleman, Powerhouse Talent, and Mentor Roger E. Mosley," Hill said on social media. "We have all been honored by the example of your life."

Roger is survived by Ch-a, two other children, and his wife Antoinette, Deadline reports.

"It is time to celebrate the legacy he left for us all. I love you, daddy. You loved me too. My heart is heavy but I am strong," Ch-a said in a statement on Facebook. "I will care for mommy, your love of almost 60 years. You raised me well and she is in good hands. Rest easy."
