NBA champion Jalen Williams has revealed that he's retired his parents just three years after being drafted.

In an interview with TMZ, the Oklahoma City Thunder star said his parents no longer have to work after he received a five-year $287 million contract extension. The deal came after Williams helped lead OKC to the NBA Championship win last season.

“It’s surreal,” Williams told the outlet. “I know everybody kind of uses that term, but it’s wild because it happened really fast, like within the span of three years, my life is completely different.”

“But yeah, I mean, it’s cool. I’ve been fortunate enough to retire my parents,” the young NBA star added.

Williams' parents are both Air Force veterans. His father, Ronald, served as a jet engine mechanic and logistics specialist for 24 years while Nicole, Williams' mother, was a medical officer for 12 years.

Williams was drafted as the 12th overall pick in 2022. Last season, Williams averaged 21.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.1 assists a game. He played a major role in the Thunder's NBA Finals win over the Indiana Pacers, leading to his massive contract extension.
